HENAAC realizes that the key to cultivating tomorrows’ technology leaders is to recognize and support the leadership of today’s outstanding science, technology, engineering and math students. In 1997 HENAAC began awarding scholarships to college students with a goal of contributing to the Hispanic community by producing role models for future generations. Each year applications are received from hundreds of students from throughout the nation who compete to receive this prestigious award. Engineering, math, computer science or material science students with an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher are qualified to apply. In addition to grade point average, students are selected on the basis of leadership and campus/community service.
In 2006, seventy-eight (78) outstanding students were selected by the Scholarship Selection Committee as HENAAC Scholars. HENAAC scholarship honorees continue to lead by example to empower our communities and enhance our nation’s professional work force. The HENAAC Scholar of the Week features many of these deserving awardees.
